Whole wall in living room is a mirror-floor to ceiling

Question

I hate this wall. Can you paint over a gigantic mirror? Any suggestions on how to cover it? It cannot be removed. My decor is nautical. Seeing two of everything, including me is ridiculous! It is 4 huge glued on panels floor to ceiling, ugh!

I think it will 'disappear ' if you place some large pictures with those adhesive hooks,add a bookcase, some plants etc.Or, you should be apply to paint on top of it, if you paint a coat of primer on first ,something like gripper primer,then your favorite color.try a small area first.

Either remove the mirror or cover it with like a book case. My dad did this when he moved into his old house-the living room wall was a big mirror-he just covered it with a home entertainment center

We had a curved mirrored wall in our previous home. I cut wallpaper and wallpapered it. If you aren't a wallpaper person, purchase the wallpaper liner designed to accept paint. You'll have to slather it generously with wallpaper paste and let it dry thoroughly before you paint, but we had no issues of slippage or peeling in the 8 years we owned that home.

Applied a 4ft X 6 ft wide beach scene mural. My husband built a faux window with sill around it and shelves on either side, leaving mirror showing behind the small shelves. It looks like you are looking out the window at a beautiful beach. Thanks for all your help.

I like using floral decorator's spray (wood tones) to 'smoke' mirrors that I don't want to reflect in the usual way. Years ago, I read about first spraying the mirror with water, then apply the wood-tone spray. It gives the mirrors a naturally aged appearance and isn't so glaring in its reflections.

If you don't want to remove mirror due to work involved can you apply drywall over it with glue then apply mud and tape to be able to paint the wall once sanded and primed. I would put something in front of that area to protect it from people bumping into it and having mirror brake. Ask at the store and see if that's possible?

I feel your pain! I too had a horrific mirror the previous owners put on a wall to 'enlarge' the space. I called around to different glass places in my area until I found one that would remove it for a reasonable fee. If you have to negotiate remember they are getting glass they can most likely cut down and resell.

p.s. It most likely can be removed. Mine was also glued but glass companies use big suction cups. Mine came off with no breaks.

What do you mean it cannot be removed? Anything an d everything can be removed. Then go from there,! Your choice...see how easy that was!
