I have a similar problem. In a drawer I put one plastic cutlery box on top of the other. I have added a half height and depth shelf here and there.Cooking pots and pans sit on top of each other (careful!!). I use the cupboard floor below the revolving pot racks, for pans that are shallow enough to fit in.I have not used the kick space below the cupboards but one could. We have an extra shelving unit above the radiator. This holds pretty tea pots mostly but the bottom shelf holds mugs, one with my meds inside, another with pens and pencils, also a wad of recycled note paper etc.Below this and in front of the radiator (with a gap so radiator can do its job) is a wooden trolley table with baskets on 2 shelves holding kitchen towels and this and that. The table top is used for baking cookies or bread. I use it in the middle of the room and then return it to the side of the room.Lastly I have a very shallow low cupboard that started life as a bathroom cupboard, and after painting it a la McKenzie Childs (I wish) it now holds extra cans and groceries.A plastic step stool sits under the kitchen table for reaching high places. If you really cannot find/make space in the kitchen , then a buffet or cupboard in the dining area or livingroom could hold kitchen things. As long as you remember where you have put everything. Good luck.

My kitchen is really tiny, too. One regular upper cabinet and two horizontal ones over the sink and stove. A big bar on the other side with a dishwasher. I put my pots and pans in the high upper cabinets, and spices/herbs in the regular cabinet (my few good china pieces on the top shelf). My dishwasher holds all my cups/glasses/storage jars, since there's only me and it's easier to hand wash dishes. I put a short 3 shelf bookcase under the bar against the wall. On top is a cutlery box, my coffee pot, and sugar free syrups. The shelves hold my plates and bowls. The bottom shelf has my blender, etc. I have another shelf under the stairs with extra bowls and some jars of stuff. I do have a narrow, deep pantry. I put a spice rack over the sink, and have hung most of my utensils on mug hooks on the walls (tongs, whisk, can opener, garlic press, etc). I only have 4 narrow drawers (not big enough for a cutlery tray) to hold extra knives/openers and potato peelers, etc. The bottom drawer holds cat food cans (my year old kittens regularly get in it and behind it so worthless for real stuff) and the one above it holds my teas. I need even more room, but this gets me by.

There is usually enough space between counter and bottom of cupboards that you could mount an extra shelf -maybe glass ones. Good for smaller items like spices, etc.

I had a very small kitchen when I first got married, I utilized the walls in lots of ways, I made a pot hanger with simple hooks under the cabinets, I also did this with utensils I used daily. Above the cabinets is often unused space, I added a dresser into my hallway that was nice for storing tablecloths napkins etc. With out taking room from the kitchen.

Use a curtain rod and S hooks and hang from ceiling or out from wall to hang pots and pans. If you have an empty space over your sink with no window, put up glass or jalousie glass window shelving (reuse from older homes). Use a block of wood with magnetic strip (Walmart, Bed, Bath & Beyond) hung on wall maybe under a cabinet near the stove for metal utensils, nice cutting knives, etc. Go to a thrift store to find a tall, narrow table that can have shelving added underneath, that might fit in a tight corner (near doorway, maybe?) Put blender, toaster, small microwave on the top and shelving underneath. If youre lucky enough to find one with a drawer, bonus storage!! Good luck!
