My desk...hollow core door, 2 metal filing cabinets......It is a little high, I need to figure how to put a keyboard

slider under, any suggestions? Also , we do need to put poly on top, I can see it will get chipped easily, and I think there may be a danger of things sticking. However I am ok with this until the real thing comes along! Thanks to all for the encouragement too!

Thanks so much , it means getting used to tho, because the keyboard is high, and my feet dont quite hit the floor!

You could put a small foot stool under the desk. (I'm short so lots of ideas on this!) I have an antique shoe shine box and keep office supplies in it.

Sweet job....Give yourself a big pat on the back. You made something beautiful from some simple materials.

Did you ever get your keyboard tray added Bernice? You can buy kits to make them if you haven't.

One thing to remember that "keyboard trays" are a bit heavy and when fully extended they can exert a lot of leverage on the mounting screws. With the "desk" being made from a hollow core door the wood that these screws would mount to is very thin and most likely will not hold up to these forces.

If the bottom of the desk finished a thicker piece of ply could be glued and screwed in to place that would allow the keyboard tray to be installed.

Good point Kevin. I forgot about the desk top being a hollow core door.

It'll come along when you least expect it too.
