What is this growing in my bathroom?

Question

Hi, I was cleaning in the bathroom just now and I came across this growing through a crack in my floor...does anyone know what this is? I'm going to show my landlord but was wondering if any of you could tell me if this is dangerous or what is causing this to grow here?!

Looks like it's a fungus growth according to a google search and images. Looks like fungi. They like wet places. Yeah if you rent make the landlord take care of it. Does water drip there a lot or could it be a possible leak from underneath?

Right but I am just wondering about the possibility of a leaking pipe from underneath also probably only because we just remodeled our bathroom and we had problems with pipe leakage. Just saying it wouldn't hurt to make sure that that is not going on also, just to be on the safe side.

There are some plastic guards that stick to the edges of tubs to keep water from getting out. Some probably work better than others. I Used some one time but I don't remember how well they worked. It might be worth checking into.

Looks like water is going behind the tub to the sub-flooring.  Of course the landlord is going to blame you.  Much cheaper than removing the tub & fixing properly.  Hopefully you can move before the floor gives way & the tub ends up in the basement.

Yes fungi does the bathroom have a vent? There is also what looks like black mold as well once you detrmine and rectify if there is no vent when taking hot showers leave the door cracked open a bit and dry any and all water that may have splashed in that area
