I've heard you can get them built for almost as much as pre-fab. I would research and get quotes.

I just remodeled my kitchen & looked into both. I got quotes from Lowes & a hometown cabinet company. While the price points were close I went with the local company because they could customize the sizes & there was no wasted space. A big issue in my kitchen.
