looks like mustard or turnip greens. take a leaf to nearest center. if that is it, they are very good in soups, beans, eaten like spinach and it is limitless

Definitely a weed. I have them too. don't know the name. I just tried to pull a few big ones. they are firmly rooted and have hollow stem with some milky stuff when they break...

@MaryAnn B Weeds are only unwanted plants. I consider VERY few plants to be 'weeds'.

It looks a lot like Ajuca, which it may be if it blooms with Dk blue spires in the spring.

Do not taste it if you don't know what it is!! If you can wait until it blooms, that will help you identify. Can you take a sample to your local extension agent?

@Laura Williams I never taste without knowing what a plant is! I harvest my dandelion greens and blossoms and also the cleavers herb that grows wild. I am learning about all the plants in my yard but this one looks like a number of different ones. I will wait until it blooms--I'm HOPING for something edible or medicinal).

This looks like a variety of a plant called Creeping Charlie. I have it all over my back yard and it is extremely hard to get rid of. When crushed it has a fairly strong scent not really unpleasant but herb like.

Some of them are getting pretty tall-around a foot or more-so I don't think they are violets. No blooms yet or even any flower buds. I'll wait because I like the leaves, they're pretty!
