What are you cleaning? If it is Iron, reddish in color, then use an Ironout spray but you have to let the chemical do the work,don't rinse it off right away.
If it is water spots then it is calcium and magnesium and vinegar/water solution works the best but again let the solution do the work, do't rinse it off right away.
And put in a water conditioner salt or no salt it will make cleaning your shower so much easier...
