Kitchen Cabinet Upgrade

Recently we renovated our kitchen with new floors, appliances, backsplash and counter tops. Click HERE to see our kitchen renovation
We also painted our kitchen cabinets. Before we painted the cabinets, we decided to upgrade them.
I've never been a fan of the awkward, empty space above the cabinets. The yucky space that is dusty and greasy because I never feel like getting up there and cleaning!

I saw another kitchen on a blog that I love, and she had filled in the space above her cabinets. Making it look like the cabinets went up to the ceiling. Genius!

I knew that this was more of a project than we could handle. Especially because of the 2 angled corner cabinets we have. So, we hired a carpenter to do the job,
Our carpenter did a great job building the new "cabinet" above our cabinets using MDF and some trim pieces.
Next, I painted the cabinet boxes and the new soffit, and then the carpenter added the small quarter round trim to the bottom of the soffit, and the crown molding at the ceiling.

We love how the cabinets turned out, and I'm so glad to have that dirty empty space above the cabinets gone!

Liked the before better. Not a fan of white. Looks too sterile. You should of put doors in the top so you could still utilize the space.
