Same thing happened to our outdoor umbrella last year and my hubby took it apart and re-strung it with no problems.

If it cannot be fixed use the material to make outdoor cushions for your patio chairs

You can purchase umbrella cord and it comes with instructions on how to change out the old cord for the new. It takes a little bit of time, patience, and fiddling, but it is much cheaper than replacing the umbrella. Look for the cord in the garden center.

When you store it at the end of the season, spray the cord with peppermint oil before putting it away. Rodents & many insects & spiders don't like the smell & will stay away. No cord chewing will be done!
