Porch storage box ideas?

Penny Small
by Penny Small
Hi Hometalkers! I order online sometimes, and do not like that packages are just left out in the open on my porch. I am considering creating a box for my front porch. The porch is small (5' deep X 5 1/2' wide). The areas to the sides of the door are just over a foot wide. I'm envisioning something like a chest on feet... What would you do?

The bench is an excellent idea, because it won't be obvious, and neighbors, or your homwowners' Assoc,if you have one, won't complain.just find out if your mail carrier will put packages into a chest or box. they have some restrictions on what they are allowed to do.great idea,I might use it:)

@Polly Zieper Polly, I do have an HOA that can sometimes be subjective in their decisions, so I will make sure everything I do meets their guidelines. The suggestion of checking with my mail carrier is a great idea too!

The only problem I see is the delivery person knowing to use it ! For example - usually same mailman - always different UPS etc.

@Betc Sometimes there is a section for special instructions on forms, when ordering online, where you can add details like that.

I would do a similar thing, especially if you have dogs. They might destroy the package.
