Can someone school me on mounting composite shutters into stucco. The shutters are heavy. Thx, Charles

Drill the shutter holes where you want them and then if on ground level, use a 2 X 4 cut to length to prop the shutter up while you mark the wall with a pencil or felt pen then lower, drill and add whatever screw anchor you're using , re-prop and screw 'er home...econd floor, get a buddy! Watch that ladder work old friend! JL

My 2X4 has two feet. Do you have a suggestion for a type of anchor that will work in stucco? Have you ever seen a clip system? On ladders, we are closer to God.

You'll have to drill into the sheathing to get any type of anchor in, Any of these should work...Type you choose will really depend on the finish you're dealing with. I've seen about every texture used and some even use large river pebbles which means your accuracy of drilling can be a little compromised but I usually do at least 5 holes per shutter..2 top and bottom outside bottoms and one dead center. Best to you Charles...JL

Okay, JL, I like the wood plug idea. Not only will it hold enough weight but will be more forgiving than the lead sleeve as it enters the stucco. I've seen this in older buildings but thought it outdated. You give me hope! Again, really cool app. I now have another arrow in my quiver to pass that assurance along to the homeowner.

Much Thanks for taking the time,

    Charles
