Spruce Up Your Front Door

Front doors can be lack-luster, even more so when you have a small entry. My front door changed from white, to black, and then dressed with curtains. The curtains are not only for aesthetic reasons, but serve a valuable purpose in my entry. The front of my house faces west. Sunlight pours into my home every afternoon for hours. During our long winter months this can be a bonus, but during summer, the entry heats right up. The curtains cover the door sidelights and can also close to cover the door window, keeping this area much cooler on very sunny summer days.
Dressing up your front door can add warmth and elegance to a stark entryway. My front door had changed a few times over the past couple of years. From plain white, to black, to curtained!
Starting with your basic white, the entry is clean and light, but lacks pizzazz.
Just adding the black paint on the inside of the front door, added depth and interest.
Curtains serve a dual purpose. The curtains adds elegance and warmth to a small entrance, but perhaps my main purpose is to keep the sun from pouring in for hours every afternoon heating up the main floor of the house. These curtains can be pulled right across the the door to cover the door insert. As my family uses the side entrance to the house, this door can remain covered if necessary during those sweltering hot days.
