DIY Faux Galvanized Planter

This year I wanted to add some planters to our backyard to complement our newly finished deck and patio. Finding the perfect planter turned out to be more challenging than I thought so I created our own do-it-yourself version.
I love the look of this faux galvanized planter!
Filled with bee-friendly plants it is the perfect addition to our back yard.
And can you believe that it only cost $6?!
I simply spray painted plastic buckets from Walmart!
Two coats of Rustoleum spray paint and we had the perfect faux galvanized planters fro our outdoor space!

I have tried this before on these pliable containers. Any movement or the sides bending at all, the paint cracked and peeled. I would suggest (as I learned) is to choose a container more rigid, like a wastebasket or strong 5 gallon buckets from Home Depot, etc. Looks very pretty though! :) Was this particular spray paint pliable (rubbery) enough to withstand the bending?
