Squeaky chair

Help!? My neighbor lady loves her wooden glider chair, but it squeaks horribly! I've used WD40 on every nut, bolt and screw I could find and I've coated all the wood surfaces with cornstarch, and it just keeps squeaking. It's definitely the chair and not the floor. I don’t know what else to try. Suggestions?

Check to make sure all the glide parts are straight. Have her sit and glide slowly while you are close to the chair bottom. It should help zero in on the cause.

wood needs oil. wd40 not a good idea, although would have been my first thought as well. Have you tried lemon oil? and from an old wives tail....candle wax....

yeah, it's probably wood on wood. If the soap doesn't work you can purchase a 'crayon' made specifically to assist drawer glides (wooden glides). it smells weird but works really well. Good luck

Put some baby powder in the rounds and push it around the glider parts.

Either a bar of soap, or candle wax. The soap is more noticeable, candle wax is not so noticeable. Both will last a fair amount of time, but still have to be reapplied maybe every year or so.

I know for a squeaky saddle you use baby powder.

My husband quickly and confidently said....White lithium grease. It even comes in a spray bottle now. Let us know how it turns out. White lithium Grease
