What do I soak old painted hinges in to remove the paint?

Old door hinges have coats of paint on, how to remove the paint.

    Get an old 'crock-pot.' Fill it with just plain ol' water, add hinges, cook on low for about 12 hours and VIOLA!!! The paint should just wipe right off. Just remember, after using the crock-pot for this, you can't cook food for human consumption with it!

    I was going to suggest what EdiLeck wrote! On Rehab Addict on HGTV, Nichole does this all the time - the last episode I saw, she bought a crock pot from a garage sale to use just for hardware! I haven't tried it out myself, but I plan to use the technique when I re-do all the interior doors in the house.

    Fabric softener & water- bring to low boil, add the hinges and let boil for a few minutes. Should come right off. Mine did

    I use furniture stripper. Bit messier but works for me..
