Garage makeover

We have a detached garage that has sadly gotten into some bad disrepair! It needs a total makeover. Not only inside, but we have to replace the outside as well. Just looking for some ideas that are not to expensive. I have around 3,000 to spend on it and hoping that most of the work can be done by my husband and myself. I could send photos, but I am embarrassed by how much we have let it go!

I suggest concentrating on those maintenance issues first. That 3,000 could be the cost of a new roof if needed. Or replacing the overhead door. How many uses does your garage serve? Is it a storage place for a lot of items you have to keep? Do you have/need a workbench to keep messy projects out of the house? There are numerous plans for building your own online and in magazines. Upgrading the lighting can really make working in the garage safer and more enjoyable. So would comfortable flooring underfoot. I really never thought that mattered so much until my husband bought some of those cushioned pads made for garages and basements. Additional storage can be another priority, and lighting there can make finding items easier as can organizing the items themselves.

I suggest having a professional come out and give you an estimate. Ask a lot of questions! This will give you a lot of information. This way you know if you have any safety issues and he will be a great resource for ideas on what you can do.
