For gardeners in the West, NW and SW, Ponderosa pine (Pinus ponderosa) has bark that gives of the fragrance of
butterscotch or vanilla. I experienced this last week hiking in the Cascade mountains. These amazing trees grow over 100' tall and can live in some cases for 200 years! Talk about an investment in the future.
