How do you get rid of moles from your yard?

I friend of mine swears by this. Get a pail (2 gallon or so), add Original Dawn (1/2 cup), fill with water, mix well.  Find the 'Mole Hole' and fill up the hole with the Dawn solution. I use Ammonia straight from the bottle but is too expensive. I'll be trying the Dawn solution soon. I'm always amazed at what soap will do. It works on ant piles, especially fire ants using Ivory Bar Soap.

in order to combat an enemy, FIRST & foremost, you must learn all you can about them.
Example: you are having problems with moles. Q: are you sure they are moles?
There is a critter that makes the same kinds of tunnels but it will surface every so often & pile the dirt up & around his port of entry/exit. the critter that does this is called a vole. moles do not make piles of dirt...only voles do.
Now for the good news:
moles & voles are pretty much the same as far as food goes...worms, grubs roots of certain plants, etc...
You can try all these new fangled ways of getting rid of the moles & voles, some of them may work, but some of them are so far out of touch with reality it's almost scary.
If you want to ridyour yard of moles & voles & any other critter that lives under ground, all you have to do is take away their food source.
It's not real expensive, but not real cheap either...
get something at your local garden center that kills grubs & any other worm like thing...
once the food disappears, so will the critters that are causing you grief.

My Mother-in-law swears by this solution. She would plant glass beer bottles at an angle about half way into the ground in the area of the problem. Breezes passing over the top of the bottle causes a vibration that would drive the moles away.

I thought this was never going to work, boy was I surprised! put on plastic gloves (most important!) poke hole thru mole trail and insert (I kid you not) unwrapped stick of Juicy Fruit gum. They come to repair tunnel and eat gum, they can't digest it and die.

By spreading grubex in the fall. Supposably, it kills the grubs that the moles are there for! Good luck.

Set traps, that is what finally worked for us after putting grubs killer out. A guy came out and set 8 traps and caught 4 moles/gophers. We have not been bothered since. 
You can buy the traps at ACE hardware for like 9.00 each, dig down in there tunnel set the trap, put a wire with a flag on it in the end of the trap so you know where they are, and the thing can't take the trap on down the tunnel. Cover the hole, check about 5 days later. good luck on catching them, then you can bury then and all is well. They destroyed our front and back yard. The mounds were gophers and moles just loosen the dirt up in a trail.

Have had this problem off and on for years, kill moles one year and the next year new ones have moved in. Have tried everything and nothing works other than the traps. You need to find their most recent tunnels to set the traps in. And yes there is a difference between the moles and voles destruction,,,moles dig the holes/tunnels but he only will eat the grubs. the vole uses those tunnels to get around and they will eat your plants.

If you ask 1000 people how to get rid of moles, you will get 1000 different answers. However, there is one thing that everyone agrees on...if you remove the source of food, the moles will disappear. next Question: how do you get rid of the grubs, worms & other bugs that moles eat? the best advice I know to give is to talk to a lawn expert & explain that you want an all natural product that will kill/get rid of all the things that moles eat.

We have a mole problem and my husband has tried just about everything. I read that mothballs work. We will try that this summer as well as the gum.

They are eating the grubs in your lawn. Treat the lawn for grubs, once they're gone, the moles will go too!

Get rid of the bugs they are eating in your lawn and they will leave and look for bugs in someones elses lawn.
