Bright kitchen using this brown/grey tile?

I was going to do our lower level (living room, dining room and galley kitchen) in grey with bright colors. However I found this tile at a steal (less than .25 a sheet!!!). Any suggestions on a whole floor paint scheme using this tile that is still bright? I'm stumped! Thanks - love this board!

I would use a color that matches the lightest color in the tile for walls. Light!! Then play off the other colors in the tile sheets. For complimentary colors, use the color wheel and choose from opposite side. You only have to use one color off the tile sheet for it to blend well.

We recently finished our kitchen with a backsplash tile very similar to this and with the same goal as yours...brighten the area and use gray paint. My suggestion would be to choose the gray tile as the room color. Then you have white/cream and onyx/brown that will disappear with a bold color palate while at the same time offering a 'grounding' of the room. Or use gray/cream/brown touches throughout the kitchen and your accent pieces can remain exchangeable without having to redo the whole kitchen. I use creamy weathered statue, old silver, crystal candle holders (an obsession) and hints of that brown (to balance the tone) and an old vintage small scale in creamy tan. I am making curtains in the next week or two in those same grey/cream/burlap tones with some lace. In the future, because I have very colorful items I enjoy looking at and LOVE Vintage, I will display my artwork, collectibles, an old window and other items that will show family photos. IF you want a more designer look....do the same thing with the basics of grey/cream/burlap and choose a designer fabric in a pattern you LOVE and spread those colors around. If you are concerned about finding a grey that isn't too blue or green, you can always paint with a neutral tan. My eyes are strained from the task but I chose softer tan by Sherwin Williams. This after choosing a tan that had a little pink in it...ugh!...but softer tan is perfectly perfect. Hope this helps you toward the finish-line of your project.

Where did you find the tile for .25 a sheet?

I'm confused. Any you thinking of covering the floor with that tile? Is it not glass? If so, I'd check with Lowe's asking their advice on the floor application idea. I'd hate to see you go through all that work and it not stand up to the traffic a floor gets. Also, anything heavy which falls on it may break the tile. I've used it for a backsplash with light mossy green walls and light oak floors. It looked really great I was told. Good luck.

Teal would look good with this tile, depending on where you are using it and how bright the room is. Actually most bright colors would work with it...deep rose, orchid, various blues, green etc. You can also take the tile into the paint store and have the computer match your favorite shade for the walls and use the bright colors as accents. Do not use that tile on the floor, though. It is not made for traffic and you can break your neck if it gets wet. Also if it is glass, it can chip or shatter if something falls on it. Beautiful tile...would love to see photos when you are done. Lucky bargain!
  • Where can I purchase this? And how do we keep track or find our messages back?

@Bonnie Maries Photo Designs I bought them at Lowes. Just happened to see the clearance sticker on them. They often have amazing clearance offers on the bottom shelves.
