  • Moved lots of this stone today- making way for the bluestone!
  • Here is the load - wonder what it's worth??
  • A couple more big flagstone pieces!!

I pulled all this bluestone out of the way back portion of our backyard - prior to the backyard 'crash'!!

It's no wonder my back hurts!! This stone will be re used to become a nice sitting area to replace the area that currently has the chiminea on it!! I will move the 'gazebo' tent to that ...»
area - and move the chiminea as well....flagstone will also be repurposed!! Re Use Re Cycle!!! Sure keep the cost down!!

Cleaning & Organization: Cleaning wood cabinets

What's the best way to clean wood cabinets - someone told me 'liquid gold', others Murphy's...saw a product at a home show that was more 'natural', but of course didn't buy it....need something that will clean and protect...Thanks!!!

  • New fence around the pool!! 1

Pool continued......

Had our pool fence installed over the past couple of days....we have lived in this house for 6 years, finally got this done. The yard has a fence around - but no 'pool barrier'. Now that we have 3 grandkids....better to be safe than sorry!! And of course the old dog fell in a couple of years ago. It really looks nice - now to start moving the plants around to fill in the gaps!! Sad to have to close it all up in a few weeks!! : (

  • Furnished with 'vintage' stuff - mom's iron set, the couch we bought in ...yes...the early 1960's....and of course a newer wicker set. Love having the outdoors in!!

My indoor/outdoor space.....

We have a covered area - under an addition - great place to hang out. Recently had my mom's iron furniture set sandblasted - and I re painted all 5 pieces. Bought new cushions, and made a ...»
few pillows. Have considered screening in this area - but I like the open-ness - and are really not bothered too much by bugs. Might get some light weight curtains from IKEA to close things when I need too!! Really like sitting out there - especially this time of year - not too hot....

Clipped to:
  • Outdoor living at it's be...
  • The pool before - we had leaks, tile was falling off, and the plaster was chipping on the steps..refreshing but not very pretty.
  • Finished!!! New tiles, new plaster, and no more leaks!!! We are so happy with the finished product, now on to the concrete deck!!

Pool upgrade!!

Finally after waiting for the money tree to bloom (which it did this year!!) we finally got our pool re done....we went with medium gray plaster to give us the darker blue water, and are ...»
loving it!! Now to tackle the concrete deck - which we have purchased 'Deck Restore'...it's a roll on product - will fill small cracks (we don't have many) and will give a uniform color to the concrete - much better than $5K - will cost us about $800 and our labor!!

Tile over concrete patio??

We have between 750-800 sq ft of concrete (good condition) patio around our pool. Rough texture, tough on the feet. It has settled is areas, but no cracks or mess. Trying to come up with a cost effective way to resurface - either plain concrete over the old?? Pavers?? Tile?? Or do I need to consider ripping it all out and just doing pavers?? Hate to have to chop this all up - installed 1977- just had the pool redone - so the patio looks yeechy!! Any suggestions??? Oh, we are in central CT. This pic is pool before!!

Thanks..

Jan, I LOVE annie Sloan Chalk Paint. There's no sanding required. You can order it online. You ...»
could paint the dresser white and then strip and retain the top dark. It's a beautiful look. Aso, I would distress with a sanding block. It's easier than regular sandpaper.
