Follow our DIY kitchen makeover from builder grade to the custom, sleek hub of our home!
This is our kitchen when we bought it in July 2013. Great potential, but lacking some serious personality!
We painted the cabinetry ourselves. It was about a 10 day process using Zinnser primer and Latex paint in "Dark Coalmine". I highly suggest using a milk paint rather than latex for this type of project. So much easier!!
This became our non-existent backsplash view for more than a year while I searched for the perfect, cost effective solution. Even in our small'ish kitchen, tiling costs were more than we wanted to spend. Then I found these:
RoomMates StickTiles!! They are peel and stick vinyl tiles! No grout, no mess! I trimmed them with my kids school scissors and did my entire kitchen in about 3 hours for $140!!
Love the look!!! They are just what I'd been searching for!! Visit more photos at
