I had an old glass coffee table I decided to make over. It was a metal and brass finish to start
I had used the glass long ago on something else. I painted the base black with a spray paint and primer mix.
Once the base was finished I took some cull lumber boards from the discount pallet at Home Depot. To get an aged wood look, I paint the wood white, then sanded some of the white off, so that the grain start showing. Then I take a Kona stain and rub it on and wipe it off to get the aged color.
Then I connected the boards together by gluing a stabilizing board underneath, and finishing it of with finish nails from my nail gun.

To finish the look, I secured the boards to the table with brackets I found in the pipe aisle at Home Depot. And the last part was a clear coat followed by low dome upholstry nails in a 1 1/4” size
I made this table for my friend who wanted a coffee table similar to ours, but loved the base I had. It’s now her favorite piece of furniture.
