This easy and very cost effective headboard idea transformed my plain guest room into a little retreat.
Using any steel wool/vinegar mixture you can age new wood very quickly. Just be warned, the wood does smell like vinegar for a while.
I purchased the cheapest fence boards from my local hardware store and selected the worst boards I could find. however, if you're lucky enough to have real old fence boards, use those! No stain needed. I also used some old white paint and quickly applied it to give an aged look.
I used two jar style porch lights, and and extension cord to allow them to be plugged into an outlet. I also used a dimmer switch to allow for easy use of the lights.
I attached two 2x2's to the bed frame and the wall, and screwed the fence boards to the boards. This eliminated a bunch of holes in the walls.
Love the transformation!

I love this look! I wonder if adding a little lavender oil to the vinegar would help curb the smell?
