Recycling Books - DIY Vintage Notebooks

People either love or hate the idea of recycling books. Count me on the 'love' side.
My school of thought is that it's better to give them new life because they will most likely end up in a landfill one day, or even worse someone's fireplace! According to VolunteerGuide.org, "Although there are no definitive statistics of the numbers of old books that are thrown away, we do know that approximately 54.3 million tons of paper and paperboard bloat our landfills each year.
I find it strangely satisfying to make these DIY vintage notebooks. With just a little book surgery, you'll have yourself a cute little one-of-a-kind notebook cover that (of course) can be filled and refilled with recycled papers.

Nice recycle for the covers. What about the book pages? Maybe use as covers for books currently being used; modgepodged wallpaper or furniture covering or turn the pages into some other art project. You could also slice the covers length wise connect them and then make vertical blinds for a window.

Jules Vern's Journey to the Center of the Earth 1889... It was a first edition, of being translated into English from French. Worth a lot of money. So not every old book is valueless. Readers digests are fine to use but always research a old/vintage book before using it this way. I love old books and I am always careful to check first after learning this lesson. Money in my pocket.
