Painting a sponge

Does anyone know if you can paint a sea sponge finger for a craft project? I know people use sponges to paint but I want to PAINT A SPONGE. Because sponges are very pourus would it cover and hold a color? Thanks

    We paint with sponges in pre-school. if you want to have the entire sponge the same color you will need to immerse it in the paint. if you want only the outside painted you can use a brush or just dip the sides. let dry and you have your painted sponge.

      Thanks Julie, I thought that was the way but never painted a sponge before. Want to use the sponge fingers in a craft project. Really appreciate your imput. Joann

    I guess you could roll it in the paint and or dip it in then just let it dry thoroughly.

      Hi, because of the weird shape I thought it might be fun to use in a fairy or knome garden. really havee not thought it out yet but when I saw the sponge fingers I Wondered how to paint it.

    Yes you can. It would be pretty decorations or for painting.
