My client loves wood flooring so she installed it onto her kitchen ceiling!

The ceiling turned into the focal point of her kitchen and she did not like it. She wanted help! She had a variety of color tones displayed in her kitchen. Her cupboards were off-white, flooring was tan, the granite counter top had brown tones and the ceiling was wood toned. We went shopping to find the perfect tiles for a back splash. The multicolor tile pattern acted as a transition to pull all four of these color tones together. The back splash was a success and is now a new focal point! I pulled the color red from the dining room walls into the kitchen with the use of window treatments and accessories.

The wood floor (on the ceiling) is the dominant focal point of the room.

The back splash and accessories combined are the perfect distraction from the ceiling.

Wasn't sure which way was up, at the start, then it did turn around.

Thank you! My client called me in to help because she said everyone looks up first at the ceiling as they enter the room. She was happy with my solution!

Thanks everybody! I appreciate your comments! HandyAndy, you are right. The floor does look yellow in the picture. It was just the lighting that made it look yellow.

I really like the hardwood ceilings in here. I love that people take advantage of thinking outside the box

I think a wood ceiling in a kitchen makes a lot of sense. My sister has one of beadboard in her 1920s Spanish house. Looks great.

I like a beadboard ceiling or tongue and groove. There are quite a few CA style ranches sprinkled around Atlanta with the stained cedar ceilings...you'll find them in Tucker & Doraville quite a bit. Loved that look and glad to see it coming back

When working with wood walls, ceilings, beams, etc, they look great with two or three coats of Modern Masters Dead Flat acrylic urethane. You can't tell it's there except it gives a smooth, cleanable, furniture-like finish.

Thanks, Jan! It's nice to see the wood and not the reflecting light.
