I am looking for a way to weatherproof a wood table for outdoor use. I also have wooden crates that I wonder if there is a way to protect from the elements. thanks

There are a number of wood weather proofing stains on the market. They are made for decks, and the likes. Three, off the top of my head are Olympic, Thompsons and Behr.

@Becky thanks, as you can probably tell being a DIY'er is new to me. If I stain and then varnish is that enough?

But being a DIYer is the BEST thing to be! :) My husband used Olympic Outdoor stain on our deck, it was just a one shot wonder. If you don't want color, they make it in clear as well. It was pretty easy.

There is a special finish you can use that is made for boats. It is call Marine Polyurathane. I used it on a table years ago and it still looks good. Gets lots of Texas sun and rain.

I use a spray from Rustoleum called painters touch ultra cover to spray on any of my pallet projects/brick pavers that I paint etc that are being used outside It's a clear gloss, you can probably buy it in a matte finish too. It seals and protects paint on wood, brick, most anything. One coat is good but you could spray it twice. I buy it at Walmart.

The marine varnish is wonderful. It is used on watercraft so it is a perfect protectant
