Permanent glue on fridge door

I have a rented property with an old but working fridge. My crafty weimaraner soon learned to open the fridge by sticking nose and paws into the old gasket seal. I got some kiddie locks, which kept coming loose. So got some sort of plastic adhesive..which has formed a big hard lump which nothing seems to shift. Any suggestions??

Have you tried nail polish remover? Get the remover for gel polish. It is a stronger acetone. Treat it just like they do at nail salons. Soak a cotton ball place it on your spot and cover it with foil andtape it in place for 10 min. It should soften and you can gently scrape it off. I HOPE!! Let us know what works

Thanks for your suggestion..I will try that..I guess I am afraid that it will take the paint off the fridge...I wonder if you can paint a fridge, as there is some rust along he bottom too...

You most certainly can paint your refrigerator. Home Depot does sell an appliance spray paint and it works great. If you search right here on Hometalk folks have posted about it

Hi Kim..it works, but has some rust and now this glop..which if it comes off with acetone will surely leave a mark..so thanks both of you for the advice Wendy.

I have found that Q20 or in some countries, called WD 40 to work very well for all kinds of sticky things. I also remove duct tape from all surfaces and stubborn glue from bottles i can jams in. Rub in well, leave for about 10 minutes. If still slightly stuck, use a flat, sharpisg thing and remove. Good luck. Jacquie
