Inspiration for this wonderful Pulaski farm table but has a very smooth java colored finish...the top is very smooth & shiny. I'd like to get a Restoration Hardware look, using chalk paint!

If you insist on painting this table-clean all the dust, etc. off first then just paint the chalk paint on following directions (if you use a name brand) or pinterest recipe. Personally I would leave the top as is and paint the rest.

I agree to keep the top as is. Grey would look nice on the bottom, but I would say only minimal distressing. That will keep it looking from too new (as with no distressing) or too cottagey (too much distressing).
  • The blogger, Christen (?) from Blue Egg Brown Nest has a video on Youtube sharing how she achieved a RH look with chalk paint to a table -- exactly what you're looking for! Good luck with your project!

I love the idea of leaving the top as is!

I think if you want to Restoration Hardware look, the first thing to do is have a photo of what you're hoping to achieve...a sort of "visual template" of sorts. With chalk paint you can paint it on and if you don't like it, it's easier to remove and have a "do over" until you get the look you want. Just don't wax it until you get your look! Would love to see your finished project. :-D
