It's primrose. That's what we call it in Tn. I planted it in a flower garden, and it took over!! I now have it in a pot so I can control it. Beautiful flower.

That looks more like an azalea bush to me.

    I go along with azalea

Definitely not azalea or primrose. It's a bush, very similar to azalea, but the flowers are different. I'm totally stumped on this one!

Azalea or rhododendron. Most prefer acidic soil and filtered sunlight. Very healthy and full.
  • Trudy Trudy on May 28, 2015
Definitely not a promise. More like an azalea.

    Azalea!

An azalea that has been sheared so heavily end-buds have been cut off. Therefore, very few blooms.

I agree it is an azaela though I am new to growing and caring for them
  • Deanna Deanna on May 28, 2015
I'm thinking azalea too :) I've never tried to grow them though

Thanks everyone! While I agree it looks alot like an azalea in the zoomed out pic, if you look at the close up of the bloom, it's a much broader, more round petal. No pointed petals like an azalea. Almost hibiscus-like. Still open to suggestions!

Did anyone notice that the flowers look a lot like petunias?
    • Candy Candy on May 29, 2015
Exactly my point! The bush itself (i.e. leaves) scream azalea. The flowers don't at all. So stumped!

@Candy I have at least 30 or so azaleas on my property in Fl. I know them pretty well, if that is not an azalea I would be shocked! Depending on the weather temps. they begin blooming from around Feb. to possibly April if you are in an area that stays cooler longer, with only a short bloom time of a few weeks whenever they are blooming, the rest of the year they are a nice green bush.

@Katrina you are so right, I wish it was too! I'm beginning to lean towards rhododendron as well.

Candy I had a thought I was helping a garden club weed a village park the other day and there were morning glory's growing in a bush it looked very similar. DId you see the plant up close or just the picture?
    • Candy Candy on May 29, 2015
Saw the bush up close, the flowers are part of it for sure. But another good comparison, the flowers are similar. A good bit larger though.
