Covered Sandbox & Playdeck

I was sick of the cats and chickens using the kid's sandbox as their own personal litter box so a covered sandbox was in the works. Until an idea came about to make a part of the sandbox a solid playdeck for the kid's chairs and table. And all of this built around a tree to save space!
Playdeck, sandbox, and a toy storage area in one place. This is built from pressure treated lumber - 2X8s, 2X6s, 2X4s, and decking lumber. The 10X10 frame is built similar to a deck with supporting lumber underneath and decking boards on top.
The sandbox lid can be removed and is supported with 2X4 boards - the sisal rope handles were attached using heavy duty fence nails.
A view of the closed lid and sisal rope handles - the handles go through the deck boards.
One side of the playdeck has a hidden toy storage area to keep the sandbox neat and clean. The lid is hinged and also has a sisal rope handle.
More importantly, this serves as a large deck for anyone when the lid is closed!
