A friend found an old, unused, set of pots and pans by a company called PAYSEE Company. They were in Chicago. We both did a search on google but, we're not finding any information. We'd like to know when this company was in business and what else they may have made/sold. Anyone ever hear of this company?
Thanks.
The PAYSEE Company, Inc., fry pan.

I found an ad on Google that shows the Paysee Aluminum 5 pc set available Jan. 14, 1947. you can search like this. "Paysee Aluminum". this narrows it to just the two words in parentheses.

@Patti Reed Thanks. Found some old stuff on some sets for sale. No information on the company yet. Found a couple newspapers with ads but, they wanted me to join before I could see the ads. Oh well..... Guess I'll keep looking.

There is no danger cooking food in aluminum, but cooking anything acidic is not a good idea, according to what I have read.

Try to look on ebay, sometimes you can find a little info on a company from the seller of the item. Wish I would have found the set. I love to buy things for the kitchen.

They are a company out of Virginia. Type Paysee co.Inc in your search engine and get more info.

@Rosemary Hesse I tried that using Google....got nothing. Which search engine are you using? Maybe Google just doesn't know about them.

A doctor told me once that during the 1960's when cheap aluminum cookware became popular that the poor minority famililies in the southern U.S. started using those pots and pans and abandoned their cast iron cookware which lead to an iron deficiency. He said cooking with cast iron is a good source of iron and since those particular groups were predisposed to anemia the aluminim cookware was not a good choice. That is probably where the thinking that aluminim is bad for you originated. Although there are some advocacy groups that do believe that.

Based on the graphics of the label, it appears to be from about the mid to late '40s. Most likely after the war because, during the war, metals were saved for the war effort. Also, the company was, according to the label, in Chicago "1," Illinois. The number is a postal zone and dates the pan between 1943 and 1963, which is when the U.S. had postal zones. I can't tell you anything more. This is all I know.

I just think that saying aluminum is dangerous is outmoded.

Try contacting the Chicago Public Library. Many libraries have back editions of city directories which have listings by name both personal and commercial. They could possibly check the years around that time. A really large library may have back telephone directories. There is also a set of books called the 'Thomas Register' that lists U.S. manufacturers and a large library like Chicago might keep back sets that smaller libraries might not be able to keep. I would start by contacting this large, public library first. They probably have a 'local history' section also. Different libraries have different policies about doing research for nonresidents. You you could also try mailing a request to the Reference Department there. Lots of places to research if you really want to dig into your mystery. (retired librarian)
