HELP!!!! Got lotsa baby grasshoppers dining on my garden. I don't have any mint...what's a good alternative??? Onion? Basil?

One thing I do for protection from most leaf-eating bugs is to put my cigarette butts into a soda bottle three quarters full of water. When it fills up so there is no more room to extinguish cigarettes I pour the liquid through cheesecloth in a funnel and put the brown liquid into a small spray bottle. Spray it on your ornamental plants, but not on lettuce or others that you eat. Nicotine concentrated like that will kill most bugs. It is also not safe for people or pets, so use a little common sense if you do use this method. Lemon Grass, most Mints, Citronella Geranium, Penney Royal, and even the common Marigold will help to repell most insects.

Google Semispore bait. Totally organic. It's not a repellant, it kills the little buggers. Spread it around the yard and garden for the baby grasshoppers to eat. I did this two years in a row and have not had an overpopulation again. It is time to use it when the hoppers are small.
