Has anyone ever painted their vinyl siding?

I know they make paint for vinyl siding, but I would like to know how well it works and if it is durable.

I painted the vinyl siding on our home 3-4 years ago and it has held up really well. I love it! The paint was from Sherwin Williams - a type they recommended. I washed the siding well first, making sure to scrub in all the nooks and crannies with a toothbrush and giving it a couple days to dry. It was very time consuming but love the outcome. Much less expensive than residing a home. The only places I've had difficulty were around some of the windows where I had previously used a silicone caulk which the paint does not adhere. Also, if I were to do this project from scratch again, I would start with all the places the siding overlaps; painting the siding overlaps before doing the larger sections. As the siding expands and shrinks with the changes in temperature, it is important to get behind the overlap in warmer weather to avoid the old color showing when temperatures drop.

We had our home on the market for several months with no offers. The light blue vinyl siding was stuck in the '80's. My son-in-law spray painted it a warm brown, left the trim white & painted the shutters black. We had an offer within a month. The house looked great & it still does. We buy all our paint from Sherwin-Williams.
