$300 Complete DIY Powder Room Remodel

Since I finished our $800 Kitchen Transformation, it was time to move onto the next room. Let's face it, kitchens and bathrooms sell houses so it was only natural to move onto the the downstairs bathroom. For $300, the room doesn't look anything like it did before! We've gained space and some style.
Before, we have a builder-grade, honey oak vanity that took up about half of the bathroom. It was so big, that you had to squeeze around the door to get inside.
The walls were supposed to be a tan color, but with the artificial lighting (no windows), it looked salmon colored. That is not a bidet, it's for rinsing cloth diapers- we're not that exotic.
I had already ripped out the entire vanity top, oops, I forgot a picture before hand...
First, I installed some pure white board and batten and painted the walls a light gray to match the grout in the new tile. The room already looked huge with this small and easy change.
The biggest expense of around $100 total was new tile. We had the ugly linoleum that plagues the rest of the downstairs, but not anymore!
White hex tile with warm gray grout. Gorgeous! Tutorial on my blog on how you can tile your floor as well! I have never tiled floor before, but the process is spelled out on my blog!
I didn't want to spend money on a new vanity, and I couldn't find any old dressers or stands in thrift or antique stores that were the right size, so I decided to build one. I made this vanity from a single board I found in a dumpster when a local church was being renovated.
This mirror was a thrifted gem that got a new coat of paint.
The old "Hollywood" light, as unfortunate as it is, I'm not about to fork over the cash for a new light fixture right now. Instead, I gave this one a little upgrade :) Now I can live with it.
For a little storage, I built a quick and simple cabinet from an old window I had in my garage. It works great and since it's just a powder room, we don't need a large amount of storage.

Great job, Potty Squatty, but they raised their prices. I found another for a someone on Groupon for only $19.99. They make a world of difference, and will cut your tp use to a bare minimum. Also if you have a septic, it will extend the life of your septic.
