Staining on top of chalk paint to create that wooden look...
Some wood doesn't accept stain and get the color you want... Sometimes you just want an aged weathered look... I have found over the past year the wonderful charm that can be added when you stain directly on top of the chalk painted surfaces. I make my own chalky paint and enjoy wax or stain finish. Depends on the look you want light wax or dark, some with stain light or colored make your own effect.

I have a Bassett dining set that I want a wood top on table & Buffett. Plan to do gray. I like this photo but likely a little lighter wood look. Can you provide me steps to get this look. Need durability on top as will be used daily.

hi im in need of advice! i bought a beautiful walnut table. the person that owned it before me painted it with house paint... and the rolled it on? should i sand it off before i begin? i really want the table top to be the original dark colour.
I had great success with my table. I chalk painted the bottom of my table the stained over it. Came out very nice.
