Deterring mosquitoes from doorways

Hi. Living in Texas we have lots of mosquitoes. Especially after heavy rains. Is there a way to make/use oils outside, around doorways to keep them away?
I've read lots of posts about making your own without chemicals for your skin. Has anyone tried to use this 'around' the outside?
