I want different doors on my kitchen cabinets

My kitchen cabinet doors are awful... the laminate is peeling so can't paint them. Where do I find different ones? Or can I make them? Ideas anyone?

You can go to home improvement centers like Home Deot or Lowes or a local one and usually find door for what you want

Not sure if this can be done..but laminate is put on with pressure and glue..can you *iron* it back on? If not, how about scrubbing, then scuffing it and repaint.. or cut the middle panes of the door (if you have that) and add screening?

I don't know what your budget is, but we too had ugly cabinets. The boxes were solid so we hired a cabinet maker to make shaker style doors & drawer fronts. I painted the ugly mis-matched wood interiors & had the cabinet maker paint the outside & new doors. A "new" kitchen for a fraction of replacement. Lowe's & HD also have a system to resurface your doors.

I used these guys: http://www.barkerdoor.com/Wood-Cabinet-Doors-s/5.htm?gclid=COyD0If9_8UCFdgDgQodCygAPA You measure they make and send to you. I used the unfinished. Stripped and re-finished the boxes to match with the unfinished doors. Kept the drawer fronts from the old cabinets and just stripped and finished those as well.

I wonder what would happen if you took the laminate off the one that is peeling? If it comes off easily and the underside is paintable, I might try that.

I once bought thin wood strips, meant for putting on a wall, and used them to cover a vanity in my bathroom. I had to sand them before re hanging them. But, more recently I've thought about covering my hanging cabinets above my washer and dryer with paint-able textured wallpaper they carry at Lowes. They have some that looks like Bead Board and some that looks like vintage punched or pressed tin.

I've seen a few post on hometalk where people have peeled off the laminate and painted them, but they need to prepped properly to get a good finish. I have sanded and painted cabinets using a good primer and then a foam roller for a nice smooth paint application. Also I know there are websites that sell doors only in lots of different styles, and bead board on the sides works well.

Keep the framework and take measurements, type of wood you want and color of stain to a carpenter shop. My husband built the framework of a pantry cabinet I designed then took the door from one of our new cabinets for style, stain color and measurements to carpenter shop and the cabinet maker made our new doors to match. Saved about $500.00 doing it this way instead of buying completed cabinet from cabinet shop. You already have the framework so all you need is picture of your door style, measurements, how many, and stain color. .
