Old Window Beauty

Have you had one of these sitting in your garage? Maybe a hand me down, found at a sale or an auction ~ and you just don't know what to do with it? I knew I didn't just want to turn mine into a picture frame or a table.... I wanted to create simple beauty that doesn't say "look at the picture I've put behind the glass" (not that they aren't beautiful ~just wanted 'different'). These windows that have somehow been saved and recycled are screaming for new purpose. I'm in love with the artwork of today that "speaks to you" with an inspirational word, phrase or just says FAMILY. Artwork that is dimensional is something I have my eye out for.
Once I took a wire brush to it and cleaned off the loose paint and dirt - I ran to Hobby Lobby in hopes that the tiny glass vases I saw there while shopping one day, would still be there.
These are the cutest little corked bottles ~ and that day, all glass happened to be 50% off!
The above picture shows how I am adjusting the thin picture wire that I attached to the existing wire on the glass vases, to hang them exactly where I wanted them. I didn't go and buy any special hooks. In fact, I just used some mismatched nails that I found in my drawer. My hopes in keeping the theme of this pretty window simple and uncomplicated.
For the finished project - I invite you to join me at my Passionately Grounded page. Like all of us that sometimes show our age -( just a little....) a bit of sprucing up might be just what the Doctor ordered.
