Buds, flowers and tomatoes

My plants are growing great! They are almost 4 feet tall in 6 weeks. They just don't have many buds/flowers/tomatoes. I only see 4 or 5 tomatoes right now. There are more flowers now that at top of cage. What did I do wrong?

Do you have any pictures so we can see the overall look of the plant? How much sunlight does it get per day?

Add some fertilizer with phosphorus (the middle number). Phosphorus makes flowers and roots. Go easy on the Nitrogen.

Thanks ladies, There are 3 different varieties ( cant remember now what the were .lol. 5 plants total) So maybe I misunderstood the fertilizer thing... I added gro mulch compost in the bucket? So you think I need to add a granular fertilizer high in phosphorus..? Here's some pictures:

I would use caution on fertilizer. Too much and all you will have is a lush green plant. What zone are you? I have no flowers or buds yet in Zone 4b. They'll be coming.

It depends on weather as well as other factors. Are the plants in the ground? Or did you plant them in the bucket? I am the one with the bucket watering method here on Hometalk... allow them time keep watering and allow mother nature to take it's course.. adding fertilize now will only cause the plants to grow, cut back on the fertilize and the plants will go into reproduction mode and start blooming it has something to do with the plant needing to reproduce and once the growing mode is done flowers will show up.. you can cause this to speed up by decreasing fertilize and keeping the water level up to 5 gallons per plant per week

Okay, so they look healthy enough, not leggy, so they appear to get plenty of sunlight. They probably could use some phosphorus like Marcia said. When you buy fertilizer there are 3 sets of numbers like 3-4-4 or 10-10-10. This represents the amounts of N-P-K ( nitrogen - phosphate - potassium ) in the fertilizer. A fertilizer that is high in nitrogen will make your plants have lots of beautiful green leaves, but very little flowers which form the fruit. Phosphate aides in root growth and flower/fruit production. So when you are buying fertilizer, look something that have more phosphate and potassium than nitrogen, like Espoma organic Garden-Tone 3-4-4. Magnesium us good for flower and fruit production, especially in peppers and tomatoes. A good way to give them that is to disolve about 1 to 2 tbsp of epsom salt in a gallon of water and spray the leaves of your plants really well about once every week or two. Hope this helps. Good luck

@ Jenny Zone 9 @James Bryan, Yes! I used your method and the plants as you can see are thriving. Better than ever. So sounds like I just need to be patient! Thanks! @ Michelle... I actually did that yesterday while researching. Thanks everyone!
