Can the seat come off to repair? If so maybe recover with some pretty deck fabric. You can get it at Hancock Fabric store. It is heavy and has waterproof stuff on it.If seat and back can't come off maybe get fabric and use screws to screw onto the chair.Without knowing how seat and back are attached that is all The help I can offer.

If the plastic webbing can come off then recover the seat with indoor/outdoor fabric. If the seat can't come off the make you a pretty seat cushion with ties to attach it to the back.

I would remove all the seat material and then out of indoor/outdoor material, I would cut a square slightly smaller than the seat. I would put grommets on all four sides the square I cut and then tie the square on the seat by running nylon cord through the gromments and back over the seat frame. I think I would also double the fabric to make it a little stronger and it would help to reinforce the stability of the grommets.

Here's what I did with my thrift store find: It took roughly 400 feet of utility cord and a can of spray paint.

I salvaged two chairs, both seats ripped like that (chairs were good quality swivel rockers, thrown away because of the seats). I took the seats apart and brought them to a fabric shop with in house seamstress. They had the same type of material (outdoor woven with a plastic-y feel) and they used the old seat as pattern for the new ones. $20 each including labour - all I had to do was put them back together.

    You can weave sisal/nylon rope.

I have used paracord to weave new seats and backings for two chairs, there are several sites online that can show you how it's done.

I don't know how much work you want to put into it, but it is possible to repair/reweave the caning - especially if you have matching chairs. You can find resin supplies at a site like: http://www.rattansupplies.com/synthetic_resin.htm. I've repaired natural and resin wicker furniture this way. Good luck!

Cut a board the size of the seat, pad it and cover it with a bright outdoor fabric, or use a plastic table clothe. The wood can be secured to the seat base with plastic strip ties that will be covered by the attractive seating.

that would be stronger than weave, as I don't know how to weave ,but its outdoors so need good strong cloth that's waterproof too. will check fabric stores, I also need to make a cover for my little bbq out of something like that. tks very much

I redid mine with awning material and wrapped it around snug and attached underneath with velcro. stitch velcro on the material with a stiching in square and an x in the middle. This is very strong now. Same can be done with the back to match. Don't be cheep with the material or strips of velcro. It will be worth it in the long run and you could match a color to your barbecue. Can spray with waterproofing and its washable and you can take it off in fall and reapply in spring ,but don't have to. Spray not really need till following yr.

You could use a painters drop cloth and even stencil a design on it.

Exactly why I never bought that kind of chair, always afraid of facing this inevitable situation. They seem to be made to fail and leave you in despair on the island of no-repair. Good luck.
