Painting with a Pro

diy 10.03.14
Larry is an experienced painter with almost 40 years in the industry, and it was a great to hang with him on a job site. Larry has tons of tips and tricks about paint, primer and even the right tools for a successful project.
  • Larry doesn't always use Behr brand paint. In fact, his favorite brand is Sherwin Williams. However, This Behr interior flat enamel covered great and looks terrific.
  • Skimping on roller covers is a common DIYer mistake. Larry prefers Purdy Colossus roller covers because they hold a lot of paint, and the paint goes on smooth.
  • Cutting-in is probably the hardest part of painting, and Larry made it look easy. He prefers a 2-1/2" angle Purdy brush.

Great tips Ethan. Though I've never done it, I had no idea that tinting primer could reduce that adhesion capabilities of it. It makes sense though if you take time to think about it.
