Dining room color - I need your advice

I have had red dining room for years, different reds that is, I couldn't find the right one - until now and I was ready to repaint. However, my kitchen walls are painted a greyish green. Love the color but got to thinking...going from the kitchen to the dining room feels like Christmas all year round. What do you think, find the right red or go a different color?

Try bringing the same red into the kitchen with accessories of the same color and vice versa (accessorizing the dining room with grayish-green). Use a combination of classical and rustic forms and textures to make the two rooms flow. Another option is to tie the two rooms together with monochromatic decor like white or black (i.e.: distressed white buffet in the dining room, small white desk in the kitchen, some white accessories scattered here and there or black place mats in the dining room, black pots with fresh herbs in the kitchen, etc). Once you find the right red (I love red, too), you could make the gray/green more gray. Red is just too fun of a color to give up and gray and red are pretty together. :)

A picture would help but I think anytime you put red and green in adjoining rooms, u r going to think Christmas. Maybe paint the kitchen gray.

I heard a designer say only use three colours in a room or it is too busy. Put example red white and blue in the first room then take two colours ex. blue and white in the next and add yellow. This way you colour scheme connects in the grand scheme of things and you have a good flow.Don't forget if you have the room a ex. white you can accent it with all the red things like art, pillows tablecloths in red then if you get tired off it you can change it up quickly by just changing the accent things rather than doing a repaint. I like to change things each season and it only takes a few things changed and you have a completely different looking room.

Try a product called Venetian plaster. You can get it from Lowe's or Home Depot. It comes in various colors and is applied using a paint trowel. I did my bathroom in a burnt orange and looks gorgeous! I then did my dining room in a wine purple. It adds character and texture and looks like a million bucks!
