Here are some photos from my weekend road trip to the annual Boktoberfest plant sale at Bok Tower Gardens in Lake

Wales, FL. The gardens, which cover 250 acres and were designed by Frederick Law Olmstead, are a National Historic Landmark. They were begun in 1921 when Edward Bok, editor of Ladies Home Journal, and his wife commissioned Olmstead to transform what then was an arid sand hill into "a spot of beauty second to none in the country".

    @Erica, I believe those are Spanish Dagger (Yucca aloifolia)...They are quite common in landscaping where I live...and they get HUGE..:)

    This is some place I would love to visit! Here in the Northwest we Have Butchart Gardens in victoria BC, an old quarry made into paradise! I love that there are people who bring this loveliness to the public! Thanks!

    Go to City Park in New Orleans and see the hugh water lilies there. They are exactly like these. Quite unique and interesting. City Park has a lot of lovely spots to visit as well as the Museum of Art.

    Marg, about how many years ago did you get the ones in the shells. I have seen them, but I never paid attention to them because I didn't think they last. How often do you water them.
