Kitchen Renovation - Complete Gut Job!

When our real estate agent saw our house's old kitchen, he was sure we wouldn't put an offer on the house. However, my husband and I knew there was hidden potential. Our kitchen renovation from 8 years ago was the first major renovation that we did to transform our house from a "fixer" to a "keeper." My husband designed the kitchen layout and served as "general contractor" to keep the 4 week timeline on schedule. I had a lot of fun choosing appliances, hardware, and tiles for our kitchen. Let’s start with the “Before” photos.
We hated everything about our old kitchen: Old cabinets, lack of counter space, electric stove top, linoleum floors, non-working exhaust fan, and faux-brick backsplash. I can go on and on…
Here are photos of the renovation process: 1) Complete removal of all old items. What a scary photo!
2) Opening up walls for "open concept" floor plan.
3) Installing sliders in dining room since we closed up door in old kitchen.
4 weeks later, the renovation was complete. 8 years since renovation, our kitchen has held up nicely! Here's a view from our living room of our renovated kitchen.
View from our dining room:

We definitely learned a lot from our kitchen renovation that took place 8 years ago.

That was not very wise. At the time we thought having the garbage and recycling bins close to the sink made better sense. Check link below for the other 4 lessons learned.
