How to Select Painters Tape

Great Home Painting
by Great Home Painting
In the old days there was only one type of masking tape-the cream-colored kind. But now there are additional choices, and there are definite differences between them. Choosing the right tape versus the wrong tape for your project can make a world of difference. Here is how to select painters tape for your project.

There are two basic uses for painter's masking tape: (a) protecting against unwanted spills and splatters, and (b) ensuring straight clean lines when applying new paint to a surface.
We use the blue tape when attaching plastic sheeting to painted surfaces. For example, if we are painting a ceiling in a room, but not the walls, we'll use the blue tape to secure the plastic sheeting to the tops of the walls to protect the walls from drip and splatter.

I love frog tape, but I'm too cheap to use it most of the time. I generally default to the blue stuff.

Ofcourse I knew about the standard cream and also the blue and green, but never have I heard of or seen the yellow tape. Very interesting new product, though I've always used the craft paper tape when doing stripes or other painting when it's been less than a week since I last painted where I'll be needing tape. I love that stuff.
