What can I DIY for bathroom counter top with olded sink

B. Enne on Jun 19, 2015Do you have a picture? Is it cultured marble or Corian? If you are talking about a cultured marble sink, some people cut out the sink and slip in a new drop-in sink with an overhanging lip. I wonder however if it is worth the effort... It might be easier to buy a nice laminate top remnant (or wood). http://www.doityourself.com/forum/designing-kitchens-bathrooms/160219-blade-cut-sink-out-cultured-marble-top.html#b http://www.johnbridge.com/vbulletin/archive/index.php/t-108463.htmlHelpful Reply

Paula on Jun 20, 2015I painted my old countertop in my bathroom. it turned out great! the directions are on my pinterest page. basically you paint your countertop with rustoleum colored primer. let it dry completely. then you pick 4 or 5 acrylic colors you want and dab them on with a damp sea sponge until you get the look you want. let it dry completely. then you paint several coats of POLYCRILIC, drying completely between each coat. I did 7 or 8 coats. the more coats, the more protection you have against bumps and bruises. you have a faux granite top. be sure to use polycrilic and not polyurethane on this project because the latter will turn yellow with time.Helpful Reply

Dianne on Jun 23, 2015Their is so many things you can do. Depending on the look your going for, I'm just going to give you a hypothetical way. If you have little kids, you can take B & W photos of them or use old photos and turn them into B & W. Place them on your counter. Put something on each photo so it won't smear, like mod podg. Lay them out in a design that you really like. Apply polycrylic over the counter, photos too. You will have to repeat this process at least 10-12 times. Or their is products that you can pour over your project, urethane. It's very smelly and would need to be used in a very well ventilated area, no kids around. You would have to make a frame around the the counter top, a good one that will keep everything squared up and can be removed once the urethane has completely dried. You can use flowers, pennies, decorative paper, a saying, the list goes on and on. Post what ever you choose to do. Before and after-gotta love em. Good luck.Helpful Reply
