It's that time of year.

We have spiders. There was one in my daughters bed (lower level) now she's sleeping in the living room. Any good home remedies? Exterminator wants 200+

You have a great mix there Belle...I've tried these for brown recluse when in Tampa. I have seen so many folks with big chunks of skin missing due to those bugger's bites! Yours sounds much more fragrant too! JL

Wow, that sounds like good, safe stuff, Belle. Very interesting. I always sort of bought the "live and let live" philosophy with spiders, especially since they eat so many insects and are hard to keep out, but you might have a better answer.

Spiders are a sign of moisture. In your area that oftentimes cannot be controlled easily. You need to check the walls in unfinished areas for seepage or efflorescence, If that is occurring its happening behind the walls as well. That is what is bringing in those critters.

Do not wast money on pest control people for this type of issue. You can purchase the same stuff they are using at Box store or go to the farm supply place in town as they should have what you ...»

    need there.

Facts about spiders, they do not drink water, they absorb it, which is why you find them around moisture. Also moisture draws other insects so it makes a great place to web a web! As a home inspector when I see spiders I always check the area for leaks and moisture. They help identify issues within a home.

I found out how to avoid brush strokes when painting cabinets: use a primer that takes all night to dry. NOT a one hour primer. That is the secret.

I still have a kid not sleeping in her room because she saw a spider. Thanks Woodbridge, I'll be headed to the farm store in town tomorrow.

Hi Donna! Try using natural ingredients in the places you saw webs such as orange oil, baking soda or eucalyptus leaves. Use a long broom to remove hard to reach cob webs and keep trash bins/containers a fair distance from the house since spiders like to prey on insects attracted to garbage. Also get rid of any clutter around the house. Spiders like to hide in towels, clothing, and under cardboard. Seal any cracks around the outside of your home and get rid of unwanted vegetation.

the best control for spiders are glue boards. You can apply pesticides but unless the spider comes in contact with its body it will not affect it. using glue boards and i mean lots of them you can trap the spiders out. you will be amazed at what gets caught on them. Go to a pest control supply company get trapper max or something simliar fold them into a box and liberally place throughout the house hide 3-4 everyroom and good hunting/.
