Flooring: My husband and I are DIY-ers and are installing our hardwoods ourselves (800 sq.

ft.) from reclaimed lumber we purchased from a house being torn down. He has done a beautiful job so far, and we are 2/3 of the way done. We are going to need to sand and stain these, and ...»
my husband thinks this is out of our reach and we should hire someone. I think it can't be that hard to do, especially since we've installed them ourselves, even though we've never done it before (this is how all of our projects start out :) He says we could potentially mess them up horribly if we don't sand them right. What do you think? Should we give it a go, or leave it to professionals? And if we do it ourselves, where should we start with the equipment rental and such? P.S. The quotes we have so far for sanding and staining are DOUBLE the price we paid for the floors!!!

As Dan said educate yourself before you try anything you've never done before. Ask around and ...»
even try a small portion as an example. I would say go for it since you've already done so much and especially if you want to save. I think for DIYers you and your husband have achieved quite a bit of work.
