How to Make a Birdbath

I wanted to make a simple birdbath so I had the idea of using PVC piping. Then I bought a white plastic tray at Joann Fabrics and glued that to the top of the PVC pipe. Wala! Birdbath!!

  • All it takes is a some wool yarn and a few simple household items.
  • Begin by winding the wool around two fingers.
  • Keep winding until you form a wool ball about the size of a tennis ball. Stick the yarn tail into the ball using a blunt needle.
  • Add several wool balls into an old panty hose leg. Tie dental floss between wool balls.
  • Wash in the washer on hottest setting. Run through dryer on hottest setting. They will shrink and felt.
  • Occasionally add more essential oil. They will continue to shrink as you use them. Just make a few more and toss them into the dryer with the others.

How to Make Dryer Balls

Want to save the planet, money, AND time. There is an easy way to do this. Make a set of Dryer Balls. Specifially, Felted Wool Dryer Balls. ...»

Once you do, you will never have to buy over-scented dryer sheets or bulky bottles of fabric softener again.

Dryer Balls will also reduce static cling and cut your clothes drying time significantly {25-50%}.

These nifty little felted wool dryer balls will do all of these things while happily bouncing around in your dryer.

  • Using easily found items and created items, I was able to create a fairy garden - a great project with my children.
  • Fairy gardens can be in any size and can be customized for a thoughtful gift.
  • Although ready made items can be found online or in garden centers, we chose to make as many of the elements as we could.

Fairy Garden

A fun and quick project that is great to do with your kids. We did this last spring and we keep updating it for the seasons. We tried to "think out of the box" in terms of the house and furniture to come with fun options.

  • Look for bone china tea cups at your local thrift shops. Many times they are thrown away if a saucer is missing. 2
  • Use just a tiny bit of soil in bottom of cup.
  • Add your Viola plant.
  • Firm the soil with your fingers.
  • I love the finished tea cup! 4

Great idea for Mothers day gift! Kids love making these.

Did you know that often a thrift shop throws away old tea cups if they are missing a saucer? This is how we recycle them .

  • Finished Mason jar solar light.
  • Supplies Needed: Solar lights, duct tape, Mason jars and outer lid, spray paint and painters tape. 3
  • Screw off the top of the solar light and put painters tape on the top of the solar panel.
  • Spray paint the solar light tops and lids.
  • I folded the duct tape in half to create double sided tape. I used duct to keep the light from falling into the jar. Duct tape is also weather proof.
  • I wrapped the duct tape around the light. Make sure you don't put the tape to close to the top. You don't want the tape to stick out of the lid. 4
  • I stuck the light with the duct tape inside the jar. You don't need to push the light in too far, just enough to make it snug. The lid will make it more secure.
  • It was an easy project that didn't cost very much money. I had all of the resources with the exception of the lights. 1

Mason Jar Solar Lights!

Don't you just love all of the things you can make and do with Mason jars? I have been wanting Mason jar solar lights since I saw them in a catalog three years ago, but for $40 a jar ...»
there was no way I would allow myself to buy them. I knew I needed to figure out a way to make them myself. I bought some solar lights at the dollar store and was able to come up with my own Mason jar solar lights. Please visit my blog to see all of the details.
